Greenville, Mississippi

We spent the last weekend in Greenville, visiting with friends and family and it was really nice. There was lots going on and our time was filled to the max while we were there. It was such a beautiful spring weekend as the temps were hot but the wind was blowing! And no mosquitos YET.

We spent most of the day Saturday at Warfield Point Park where Waylon rode his 4-wheeler in the River Mud Run. There was some confusion about which classification he should have been in and that part was unfair as they had him competing against much larger 4-wheelers. He did okay as he finished 5th place out of 9 riders. He was happy with that as he knew what kind of competition he was up against and I was happy that he rode smart and didn't push it to where he blew up his engine...he can be known to push the bike's limits! Jon Walker went with us and he enjoyed every minute of it. It is so fun to watch him grow into the rough and tough little boy. He rode the ATV trail with me and climbed a huge mud pile and even climbed to the top of the tower looking out over the Mississippi River.

Saturday night we went to St. Joe to watch Maggie's senior play, "Lil Abner." I didn't realize how major her role was as she was Abner's mother, Mammy Yokum. She played a hillbilly, old lady with a terrible accent and I was surprised at how good she was at her character. Kennedy had zero interest in the play but Jon Walker enjoyed it as long as his attention would let him.

And Sunday was just as nice as the sun was shining all day long. We went to church and Kennedy would not let go of Maggie's pearl necklace. It was the cutest thing to see her carry her baby, sippy cup, and pearls all while giving that cheesy little dimpled smile to everybody she passed. Waylon and I had a nice Sunday afternoon alone while his parents spent some time with the kids. Waylon fished for a while at my parents while I laid out by him to get some sun...it felt so good to feel the delta heat on my skin for the first time this year. Then we did a little shopping and headed back later that evening.

It was a good weekend in Greenville and we will be back soon enough to watch Maggie graduate!!! I cannot believe how quickly time flies.
