When I got home yesterday, my neighbor walks down and asks if everything is okay between Waylon and I. Well, yes, that's a strange question...so I asked her why she asks. You see, his strange but oh-so-productive attitude started earlier this week when he finally got around to cleaning the garage like he said he was going to do three weeks ago. I do try to keep a clean, organized home, but the garage is a different story. That is Waylon's territory and needless to say, it's his place to throw tools around, sand and shave wood, and store his fence equipment. I may have a parking space in there about 3 months out of the year! Well, he actually did a massive cleaning in there and it is spotless. Everything is in it's place and it is about as clean as the day we moved in. And my car can go in with lots of space around it!!!
Even before the whole garage project went down, we had been working in the backyard and doing some major renovations. Waylon built a second deck directly across from the existing one and eventually one day, we will connect the two with a gorgeous arbor for more shade and better lawn appeal. The new deck looks amazing and the backyard makes more sense now with a more set area for grilling and lots more room for entertaining guests. We have a fire pit that we use alot and we wanted to put it in a more useful spot as well, so that was Saturday's project. With lots of help, we dug out the grass between the two decks...in laid some railroad timbers as the border...and hauled all the pea rocks from what used to be the kids' play area over to the new fire pit. It looks fantastic and I am so pleased it is done.
So now back to coming home from work yesterday and pulling into such a nice surprise, followed by the neighbor's questioning Waylon being in the doghouse. I have wanted flat rock to border our front flower bed since the day we moved in. I just never wanted to spend the $200 for a pallet of it. We have a friend who is a landscaper who was needing to get rid of some he had leftover. Waylon went and picked it up and got all the grass and weeds out of the flower bed, then laid all the flat rock out. It gives the yard a complete transformation as far as curb appeal goes. I love it and appreciate all hubby's hard work this week. I'll have to reconsider the next time I really want him in the doghouse!
